SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY

What makes me eligible for Social Security Disability benefits?

Three different events in a worker' life can trigger Social Security benefits:

  1. Retirement
  2. Disability
  3. Death

Benefits are available to certain surviving family members upon the death of a worker and the worker and certain family members are eligible for benefits once the worker retires or becomes disabled. A person who has never worked or who has not earned enough work quarters to be eligible for regular Social Security benefits may be eligible for Supplemental Security Income benefits (SSI).

Contact your local Social Security Office to see if you are eligible.
